"Hail, thou whose face is turned back, who comest forth from thy hiding place, I have not caused shedding of tears. Hail, Bast, who comest forth from the secret place, I have not dealt deceitfully.
Hail, thou whose legs are of fire, who comest forth out of the darkness, I have not transgressed."-The Egyptian Book of the Dead

We created
this enormous black-light puppet for the Desert Sin show "Musee De
Femmes." Bast stands over 10 feet tall, and can engulf a human head
in her foam jaws. Luckily for us, her only quarrel is with liars and reptile
gods. Bast is the ancient Egyptian god of cats and funeral perfumes. Her and the serpent Apep are locked in eternal struggle. Every day, Bast sits at the helm of Ra's sun-barge as it sails across the sky. When Apep surfaces and tries to eat the boat, Bast defends us all from eternal night with her powerful claws. We at the Mystery Bird Puppet Show feel we owe a lot to Bast, so we try to give her a double-decker bus to eat every once in a while. If you would like to donate a double-decker bus to the Mystery Bird Puppet Show, please do not donate a double-decker bus. |
